ProjectOasis: Q1 Wrap-up

Hey Natives!

We’ve come a long way from our launch last October.

Team Oasis has been earnestly working on many things behind the scenes to prepare for major changes— adding gamifying elements and preparing for future expansions of Oasis. We’ve also scaled up the team and steadily ramping up our development.

Here’s what we accomplished in Q1!

Migration to Web 3.0 Technology

As we enter into Q2, we are moving towards fully integrating ProjectOasis into Web 3.0. In a nutshell, Web 3.0 is “the next iteration or phase of evolution of the Internet” that lets users have more control of their web experience and is based on blockchain technology.

Currently, we’ve already started transitioning into these Web 3.0 technology:

The main benefit of Web 3.0 is transparency of information. Every single interaction and change made is recorded on distributed ledgers that allow for shared access on a P2P network.

Ease of Third-Party Integrations

Anyone can integrate to ProjectOasis without needing to ask or wait for permission from our side, which opens up the possibility for integration with other parties with ease.

Your Game Data Lives Forever

Even if the game is no longer around, Natives can still have access to all their game data such as their profile, owned NFTs, gameplay records, and so on.

These info will still continue to exist and be accessible by others. A potential use case would be that these data could be cross-pollinated to other blockchain games. And thus, ProjectOasis can live on forever even if it’s in a different form.

Zone Sharding System

In the current version of the game, the entire map is loaded in one go at the start so Natives can immediately access all areas once logged in. As we prepare to scale up, we’ve made the decision to implement a zone sharding system for map loading.

Split sharding allows us to load individual zones as needed instead of loading everything all at once. This dramatically improves the loading speed as it is less taxing and requires less data. The result? A more seamless gaming experience and it allows us to ensure scalability. We are now equipped to handle our current total of 21 zones and future map expansions. This is also a good stepping stone towards the Land Sale, which we are planning to implement in the future.

Layered Architecture System

At the moment, Oasis primarily supports projects on the Binance Smart Chain. We are aiming to cater to a cross-project metaverse where we house projects from different realms on our Oasis platform. Natives will be able to seamlessly link to other projects from various chains in-game once this is fully operational.

To support this, we have begun the transition to a layered architecture system. Each layer is separate from the other layers so it’s easier to make changes to one layer without affecting the rest. This will help us to support our vision of cross-chain realms as well as other future expansions.

Rework of Core Functions & UI

Apart from that, we’ve carried out some major reworking of the core functions and game UI. Our main focus right now is levelling up the gamified elements in Oasis.

The biggest upcoming change — Natives will be able to enter buildings and interact with DeFi protocols in a more immersive way. You can go inside, talk to NPCs, and perform actions in-game whether its staking, participating in IDOs, or trading NFTs. We’re also constantly optimizing the system and improving interactions for a better gaming experience.

Instant Gamified Whitelisting

During Q1, we rolled out early builds of our innovative gamified whitelisting and questing systems for our Natives to experience first-hand.

If you guys remembered the Lunar New Year Quest and the Save Christmas Event — these were just a small glimpse into the future of what it could be.

Natives who took part in these events could complete quests to get instantly whitelisted and mint free NFTs. This instant whitelisting is the first-of-its-kind in the crypto space.
